    I have that kiln. At least I’m pretty sure. I really like your raku fired pot. The top looks amazing. Have you tried using straw in the cooling down process? It seems easier to scrub off.

    @flaggot1
    It was actually a thick clay slip. Basically just regular clay and water
    The technique is all Charlie Riggs; I just made the video.

    Thanks for the good word
    Quite possibly the blast of cold air from the extra opening shocked the mud and made it fall prematurely. Raku firing is notoriously unpredictable; that is part of it’s charm.
    I saw your videos. Very cute, but I don’t understand ASL. I guess I need subtitles.

    This is amazing! Thank you for posting this :)

    Question: If the kiln was not opened during firing, do you think all of the mud would have stayed intact?

    It was actually a thick clay slip which cracked and partially fell off in the kiln, then the smoke painted the cracks when reduced in the can lined with newspapers.
    The technique is all Charlie Riggs; I just made the video.

    What exactly is the “brownie mix.” I love the effect, and can it be used in a normal kiln? I love your techniques, very inspiring.

    What kind of glaze
    was the vase dipped in
    before the raku firing?

    Great video, thanks.:]

    No, it was not leather hard, but it was firmer than it was during throwing. It was flamed lightly to drive off some moisture before denting.

    It’s bad that all this publicity is from viewing this video out of context on tosh.0. That being said. She really knows how to work it. It’s a handjob manual. I wonder what she does if the runs out of water. I heard spit is a good way to keep it wet.
